vs Profound

Looking for a Profound alternative

Profound pioneered the category and prices for enterprise AEO teams. If you are an agency reselling to SMB clients, the gap is not features — it is that a point estimate with no sample size behind it cannot survive a renewal call.

When Profound is the better choice

Profound is the better buy if you are an in-house team at a large brand with an enterprise budget, you need their breadth of integrations, and procurement wants a vendor with a long customer list. Nothing here changes that.

When BeenCited is

Choose BeenCited if you are billing a client for AEO work and need to show, defensibly, that their numbers moved: a frozen baseline, a delta against it, and an interval that says how sure you are.

Questions

Is BeenCited a drop-in replacement for Profound?

For the core job — tracking whether the engines name your brand for the prompts your buyers type — yes. For enterprise procurement requirements and the wider integration surface, no; that is genuinely where Profound is stronger.

Why does the confidence interval matter?

Language models are non-deterministic: ask the same question five times and you can get five different answers. A single measurement showing 40% Share of Voice could really be anywhere from 12% to 74% on five samples. Reporting the interval and the sample size is what separates a defensible claim from a number that happens to look good this week.

Which engines are covered?

ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude today. AI Overviews and Grok are on the roadmap but not yet on the endpoint we use, and we would rather say four honestly than claim six.
